Seven Japanese high school prodigies, among them prime minister Tsukasa Mikogami, swordswoman Aoi Ichijo and inventor Ringo Ohoshi, survive a plane crash and wake in a medieval world of magic and beast-folk. The elf Lyrule and the villagers of Elm take them in, and the seven repay it the only way they know how: a power plant, a reworked local economy, a trained militia. Elm sits inside the Freyjagard Empire, which runs on the submission of commoners.
