Synopsis
Matthias Hildesheimer is the reincarnation of the ancient sage Gaius, who chose rebirth to obtain a combat-oriented magical crest. In his new era the crest is branded the "Mark of Failure," and magic itself has declined to primitive levels — a decline Matthias traces to demon interference. At the Second Academy he recruits Lurie Abendroth, an enchantment specialist, and the ancient dragon Iris to push back against the demons corroding humanity's magic.
