In the crumbling underground city of Lux, prize fighter Ichise loses an arm and a leg after crossing the wrong man, and is rescued by Doc Eriko Kaneda, who fits him with experimental prosthetic limbs woven from raffia — the rare mineral that keeps Lux alive. As he learns to use the new body, he is drawn toward Ran, a quiet girl whose visions of the future shadow every move he makes, while the city's factions begin tearing each other apart over control of the mines.
