In the crumbling underground city of Lux, prize fighter Ichise loses an arm and a leg after crossing the wrong man. He is rescued by Doc Eriko Kaneda, who fits him with experimental prosthetic limbs woven from raffia, the rare mineral that keeps Lux alive. As he learns to use the new body, he is drawn toward Ran, a quiet girl whose visions of the future shadow every move he makes, while the city's factions begin tearing each other apart over control of the mines.
