Akira Ono is a middle-aged salaryman about to shut down the online RPG he has spent fifteen years running. On his last login, his "Demon Lord" character Hakuto Kunai pulls him bodily into the game's world. The first person he meets is Aku, a young one-legged girl an actual demon king has thrown out to die. Kunai picks her up, walks off, and starts crossing a continent in which every kingdom and holy maiden has reason to come hunting an actual Demon Lord.
