Nobuaki Kanazawa, a transfer student at Kure Academy still haunted by the carnage of an earlier King's Game at his old school, watches his Class 2-1 classmates dismiss a sudden text message from someone calling himself the King as a harmless prank. The orders begin escalating, and refusing or failing to obey within twenty-four hours brings a gruesome punishment. Nobuaki tries to warn his classmates of what is coming and to push back against an opponent no one can locate, while the messages keep arriving on every phone in the room.
