Toua Tokuchi makes his living on Okinawa at One Outs, a one-batter-versus-one-pitcher gambling format, riding a 499-game winning streak. The streak ends when Hiromichi Kojima, veteran slugger of the perpetually losing Saikyou Saitama Lycaons, beats him and offers him a place on the team. Tokuchi will only sign on his own terms: five million yen for every out he records, minus fifty million for every run he gives up. Owner Tsuneo Saikawa accepts, expecting the contract to bankrupt him.
