High-schooler Narumi Fujishima drifts through class without bothering to learn his classmates' names, until Ayaka Shinozaki drags him into the gardening committee and up the stairs above the Hanamaru ramen shop. There he meets Alice, a hikikomori girl who runs the room as the NEET Detective Agency, surrounded by monitors and stuffed animals and surrounded by adult hangers-on like ex-boxer Tetsuo and the easygoing Hiroaki. As Alice puts Narumi to work as her field assistant, their first major case pulls them onto the trail of an illegal designer drug called Angel Fix.
