Synopsis
Akari Hizamaru and ninety-nine other conscripts board the Annex I, the third human mission to a Mars now overrun by Terraformars — towering humanoid roaches descended from cockroaches seeded by an earlier terraforming attempt. Each crew member has undergone the Mosaic Organ Operation, a surgery that splices an Earth animal's traits into their body; Akari's grants him bagworm-silk threads to pair with his swordsmanship. Their orders are to capture live samples and bring home a cure for the A.E. virus killing Earth's population.
