Lucy Yamagami takes a job at a ward office in the fictional Hokkaido city of Mitsuba with a private grudge: she wants to find the civil servant who once rubber-stamped the absurdly long name her indecisive parents gave her. Instead she lands in a section of oddball coworkers, including the perpetually unmotivated flirt Yutaka Hasebe and the timid Saya Miyoshi, under supervisor Taishi Ichimiya. Between counter duty and endless paperwork, Lucy keeps hunting for the clerk who let her name through.
