College student Zhang Chulan is ambushed by reanimated corpses while visiting his grandfather's grave and survives only by instinctively channeling qi, a martial power his grandfather secretly taught him. The attack was staged by Feng Baobao, an emotionless girl with extraordinary fighting skill who works for a state body that monitors qi users known as Outsiders. Drawn into their world, Zhang Chulan finds rival factions circling him over the mysterious power he is said to have inherited. This Chinese-Japanese co-production adapts the donghua of the same name.
