Maki Katsuragi is a quiet transfer student with sharp reflexes whom classmate Toma Shinjo recruits to save the boys' soft tennis club from being shut down. Toma offers Maki money to join, and Maki's raw talent quickly raises the level of a team used to losing. As the boys train toward real matches, the story turns to the home lives weighing on them, including Maki's strained situation with his absent father.
