A formless soul, told it has won a lottery for a second chance at life, is placed by the watcher spirit Purapura into the body of Makoto Kobayashi, a fourteen-year-old who has just attempted suicide. Given six months in Makoto's life, the soul must uncover the grave mistake of its own past existence while piecing together why Makoto wanted to die, navigating the boy's strained family and school life along the way. This feature film adapts Eto Mori's novel.
