Retired film star Chiyoko Fujiwara agrees to her first interview in thirty years when documentarian Genya Tachibana arrives to record her life, returning a small key she lost decades earlier. As Chiyoko recounts her career, the camera follows her into the roles she played, and her memories and her movies blur into a single chase: her lifelong search for a young painter she once sheltered and never saw again. Genya and his cameraman are pulled into the story alongside her.
