College student Yuya Nomoto is dragged into a kidnapping by friends and watches them die when their target, a high schooler named Hitomi Uzaki, tears through them. Hitomi is a Therianthrope, a human spliced with animal genes — in her case a honey badger, whose fearlessness lets her bait far larger opponents into attacking first. Yuya learns the killings feed an underground bloodsport called Killing Bites, where Japan's conglomerates wager Therianthropes against each other, and that his own survival is now tied to Hitomi as her assigned investor.
