Kobato Hanato arrives in town on a single mission: to heal wounded hearts and collect the konpeito candy that each mended heart leaves behind. She must fill her small bottle to have her own wish granted, all under a one-year deadline set by Ioryogi, a grumpy talking plush dog who scores her progress. Searching for people to help, Kobato finds her way to a struggling kindergarten run by Sayaka and the curt Kiyokazu Fujimoto.
