The android combat unit YoRHa sends 2B and her scanner partner 9S to the surface to fight alongside a local Resistance cell. As they cut through waves of machines, 2B and 9S encounter Adam and Eve, twin humanoid machines fascinated with humanity — and the mission's clean premise begins to unravel.
