Masaru Saiga, a young boy who has just inherited a vast fortune, is hunted by deadly automaton puppets sent to kill him. He is saved by Narumi Katō, a martial artist afflicted with the strange Zonapha Syndrome, and Shirogane, a silver-haired woman who fights the puppets using her own marionette, Arlequin. As the three are drawn together, Masaru learns that the attacks tie into a centuries-old conflict between the automatons and those who hunt them.
