Kirara, a water priestess of Kanna village, sets out to hire samurai who will defend her farming community from the Nobuseri, former soldiers fused with machine bodies who plunder each harvest. She recruits the battle-worn veteran Kambei and the eager young swordsman Katsushiro, gathering seven fighters in all. This retelling of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai moves the story to a far-future world rebuilt after a great war.
