By day Kaito Kuroba is an ordinary high school magician; by night he becomes Kaitou Kid, the white-caped phantom thief who announces his heists in advance and slips past every trap set for him. After discovering his late father's hidden costume and gadgets, Kaito learns his father was the original Kid, killed by a shadowy organization hunting a jewel called Pandora. He takes up the mantle to draw out the killers, dodging detectives and rival magician Aoko Nakamori's father along the way.
