Ko Kitamura grows up next door to the four Tsukishima sisters, closest to Wakaba, who was born the same day as him, and at constant odds with her younger sister Aoba, a gifted pitcher who resents how much of Wakaba's time Ko takes up. When tragedy strikes the family early on, Ko and Aoba are pulled toward a shared goal: carrying Wakaba's dream of reaching Koshien, Japan's national high school baseball championship, onto the mound and into the batter's box.
