A middle-schooler called Kobayashi wakes beside his dismembered teacher with a saw in hand and no alarm at being the prime suspect. Bored with ordinary life, he tracks down the seventeen-year-old prodigy detective Akechi and asks to become his assistant. Akechi sets a condition: solve the case by steering the real killer into the open. With his friend Hashiba, Kobayashi follows a string of bizarre crimes toward the elusive figure known as Twenty Faces. Loosely drawn from Edogawa Ranpo's mysteries.
