Six years after a great quake leveled Tokyo, single mother Masane Amaha returns to the rebuilt city with her young daughter Rihoko, fighting a welfare agency over custody. Masane carries the Witchblade, an ancient weapon that wraps its bearer in bladed armor and turns her into a deadly fighter when danger nears. As she learns to control it, corporations and government agents close in on the artifact and the woman bonded to it. An original anime built on the American comic's premise.
