Kirie Goshima lives in the coastal town of Kurouzu-cho with her boyfriend Shuichi Saito, who grows increasingly disturbed by spirals appearing everywhere: in snail shells, in the clouds, in his father's obsessive pottery. What begins as isolated eccentricity spreads into a communal curse: the town's residents contort into spiral shapes, structures warp, and escape proves impossible as the geometry of Kurouzu-cho folds inward on itself.
