In the year 12,090, on a ruined world ruled by vampire nobles, the farm girl Doris Lang is bitten by Count Magnus Lee and hires a passing hunter to kill him before she turns. That hunter, known only as D, is a dhampir, half human and half vampire, who carries a wisecracking parasite in his left hand. D rides for the Count's castle to face Lee, his daughter Larmica and the monsters the noble sends after Doris. It adapts the first of Hideyuki Kikuchi's novels.
