Aoyama, a methodical fourth-grader who records everything in his notebooks, sets out to explain why penguins have suddenly appeared in his quiet suburban town. His investigation centers on the Lady, a dental assistant he is quietly smitten with, who seems able to turn ordinary objects into the birds. Alongside classmate Uchida and the studious Hamamoto, Aoyama tracks the mystery toward a strange sphere of floating water in the woods.
