Ten years after the Great Tokyo War, Japan has splintered into independent prefectures whose disputes are settled by elite fighters called Bests, backed by ordinary supporters known as Rest. When her hometown hero Maccha Green is hurt in battle, Nozomi Moritomo of Tokorozawa sets out with fellow Rest girls Yukina, Ai, and Chiaya to mediate conflicts across the country, riding from one fractured region to the next.
