The Heike Story

平家物語

Biwa, an orphaned girl who travels playing a biwa lute and carries an eye that sees the future, is taken in by Taira no Shigemori of the powerful Heike clan after she foretells the family's coming downfall. Living among the Taira in the years before the Genpei War, she watches the clan's children grow even as her visions point toward the violence ahead. Adapted from the classic war epic The Tale of the Heike, retold through Biwa's eyes.
