Synopsis
After the mysterious aerial enemy known as the Xi attacks Shanghai, teenager Kei Narutani is evacuated to Japan, where he crosses paths with Gripen, an 'Anima', a cyborg girl grown around salvaged Xi parts to pilot a reverse-engineered fighter called a Daughter. Gripen latches onto Kei after he comes to her aid, and her developers invite him to join the Anima project as her partner to improve her performance. As humanity scrambles to fight the Xi in the air, Kei and Gripen are pushed toward the front line.
