Beryl Gardinant has spent decades teaching swordsmanship at a small dojo in a backwater village, long past his youthful dreams of glory. A former pupil arrives with an appointment letter: Beryl is to serve as special instructor for the Liberion Order's knights in the capital. Once there, he reunites with former students who have become elite knights, an ace wizard, and the adventurer's guild's highest-ranked member—all of whom refuse to let their old master fade into obscurity.
