Tughril Mahmut, the youngest pasha ever to sit on the ruling council of Türkiye, lost his mother in an earlier war and is determined to keep his country out of another. When an assassination is engineered to drag Türkiye into conflict with the militaristic Balt-Rhein Empire, Mahmut sees the plot and works to expose it. Stripped of rank, he travels the continent of Rumeliana, gathering allies and reading the empire's expansion as he tries to build a coalition strong enough to hold it back.
