Nya-tan, the cat spirit left out of the Chinese zodiac, wants nothing more than to finally earn a seal and join its ranks. Forgetful and far from graceful, she moves in as a freeloader with Takeru Tendo, a student living alone in Akihabara, and sets her sights on the Eto contest where zodiac girls battle for their place. The other Eto-musume, each shaped after a zodiac animal, stand between her and the spot she's chasing.
