After her parents are killed by bandits, Sarasa Feed trains at the Royal Alchemist Academy and, on graduating, receives a shop from her teacher — a run-down place in the remote Yok Village, tucked in the mountains and weighed down by debt. Sarasa sets about gathering materials, taking commissions, and keeping the books afloat, joined by villagers and the adventurers Iris and Kate as she tries to make the little alchemy shop pay for itself.
