In a rural elementary school, fourth-grader Fujino draws four-panel comics for the class newspaper and basks in being the funny one — until the teacher splits her column with Kyomoto, a shut-in classmate whose draftsmanship leaves Fujino dumbstruck. The rivalry pushes her to draw harder, and the two eventually meet in person and pair up as manga collaborators. A 58-minute feature film adapted from a one-shot manga; it follows their work and friendship across the years that come after.
