Takuya Ookubo and Rika Honjouji work at the same Tokyo travel agency and are both content being single introverts — until the company announces it will send unmarried staff to its new Alaska branch. Desperate to stay put, the two barely-acquainted coworkers strike a deal: fake an engagement for a year and hope nobody looks too closely. Their arrangement forces two people who prize solitude into the daily choreography of pretending to be a couple.
