Takuya Ookubo and Rika Honjouji work at the same Tokyo travel agency and are both content being single introverts. Then the company announces it will send unmarried staff to its new Alaska branch, and the two barely-acquainted coworkers strike a deal: fake an engagement for a year and hope nobody looks too closely. Their arrangement forces two people who prize solitude into the daily choreography of pretending to be a couple.
