Ninth-grader Moritaka Mashiro can draw, but he has shelved any ambition until classmate Akito Takagi, a sharp writer, pushes him to team up and create manga for Weekly Shonen Jump. They form the pen name Ashirogi Muto and agree to a pact: Mashiro will marry his crush Miho Azuki, an aspiring voice actress, only once their manga is animated and she voices the lead. The two navigate editors, deadlines, and rival creators as they chase serialization.
