Ajin are rare humans who cannot die: any fatal injury heals in seconds, and they can summon shadowy combat creatures called Black Ghosts that only other Ajin can see. High-schooler Kei Nagai discovers he is one when he is killed in a traffic accident and revives unharmed in front of a crowd. Branded inhuman and hunted by a government that captures Ajin for endless experimentation, Kei goes on the run and crosses paths with other demi-humans who have their own designs on his kind.
