Takumi Iruma, an ordinary salaryman, is accidentally swept up in a hero-summoning ritual and dropped into the world of Mildgard. The goddess Nolyn, apologizing for the mix-up, lets him choose any skill — and Takumi picks alchemy, hoping for a quiet life away from battle. His supposedly modest craft turns out to produce everything from holy swords to flying ships, and alongside the elf swordswoman Sofia Sylphid, he finds that a peaceful retirement may be harder to keep than he expected.
