The Rising of the Shield Hero

Naofumi Iwatani is summoned to a parallel world as one of four Cardinal Heroes meant to fight off the Waves of monsters, but he draws the Legendary Shield, the only purely defensive weapon, and is quickly shunned and falsely accused. Cast out and broke, he buys a young demi-human girl named Raphtalia as his first companion and later raises a filolial chick called Filo, building a party from the bottom up while the kingdom that mocked him still expects him to defend it.
