A nameless boy is the lone survivor when an apocalyptic war kills his mother and everyone around him, leaving him to walk an emptied road alone. He meets a girl his own age, just as orphaned by the violence, and the two strangers fall in step together with no adults left to protect them. Drawn in stark, near-monochrome art, their journey carries them past other survivors whose choices force the children to keep deciding what kind of people they will become.
