Reiji Kurose is a high schooler stuck in a dead-end rural town, tied down by a nursing mother, a shut-in brother, an ailing grandmother, and a future he can't see leaving. His routine cracks when he meets Nagi Aoe, an idol from the group Acrylic now working at a local convenience store, who tells him about a spot called the Lover's Abyss where couples go to die. As his ties to childhood friend Sakuko Akiyama and others tighten around him, Reiji is drawn deeper into a town he was sure he'd never escape.
