Hatsu Takagi lives with Kokuhaku disease, a rare condition that weakens the heart and leaves a person with a countable number of beats, measured by a device she keeps hidden. She has resigned herself to a still, isolated life to keep her pulse down. When classmate Hato Iijima finds out, he swears to help her spend what she has left on the things that make a heart race, and this one-shot by Naoshi Komi follows the short stretch of that bond.
