Reinhardt is born a prince with an apparent magic level of 2, and his royal parents promptly abandon him in the forest. What they don't know is that the world's measurement system can't display numbers above two digits, so the real level of 1002 he carried over from his old life as the shut-in Haruto reads as 02. In the woods, he befriends Flay, a Flame Fenrir who pledges herself to him, and is soon taken in by his relative Gold Zenfis.
