Akira Tsubaki tastes a puddle of drool left by Mikoto Urabe, the quiet transfer student asleep at her desk, and promptly falls feverish. Urabe explains he has caught 'lovesickness' from her saliva, and the only cure is a daily taste of her drool. That bizarre ritual becomes the foundation of their relationship: through her saliva, the two can sense each other's feelings, even as they keep almost every other kind of contact at arm's length.
