Synopsis
Naofumi Iwatani is summoned to the kingdom of Melromarc as one of four Cardinal Heroes called to fight the monster-spawning Waves of Calamity. Unlike the heroes of the sword, spear, and bow, Naofumi is bound to the purely defensive Legendary Shield and dismissed as the weakest. After his only companion betrays him and frames him for a crime, the disgraced and distrustful Naofumi buys a young demi-human girl named Raphtalia and begins building his own strength from the bottom.
