High schooler Kazunari Usa finally moves out on his own into Kawai Complex, a boarding house that serves meals to its tenants, only to find his dream of independence overrun by oddballs. He shares a room with Shirosaki, a masochistic aspiring writer, eats at a table with the rest of the tenants, and discovers that Ritsu Kawai, the quiet, book-loving upperclassman he admires, lives there too. Day by day, Usa tries to close the distance with the reserved Ritsu while navigating life under the same crowded roof.
