Akari Mizunashi arrives on Aqua, a terraformed Mars whose city Neo-Venezia rebuilds Venice in canals and gondolas, to train as an Undine at the Aria Company, one of the three great water-guide firms. Her mentor is Alicia Florence, among the most celebrated gondoliers in the city, and Akari rows tourists through the canals while slowly earning a standing of her own. Outings with fellow trainees Aika of Himeya Company and Alice of Orange Planet fill her days as she settles into the unhurried rhythm of the water world.
