Akira Tachibana is a quiet high schooler who gave up the track-and-field club after a leg injury ended her running. Working part-time at a family restaurant, she finds herself falling for its manager, Masami Kondo, a gentle, divorced forty-five-year-old whom his own staff dismiss as a pushover. Akira keeps her feelings to herself and watches him closely, while Kondo, unaware of how she sees him, carries on raising his young son and running a kitchen that barely respects him.
