Ataru Kashiwagi, a teenager raising himself and his sister Yuri in poverty after their parents' death, is hooked on the social network Real Account. One day he and roughly ten thousand other users are pulled inside the app into the Real Account Zone, where they are forced to play deadly games. The rules are brutal: lose all your followers and you die, and when a player dies, every one of their followers dies with them.
