As a child, Akane Osaki idolized her father's rakugo, the Japanese art of solo comic storytelling. After he is abruptly expelled from the profession on the night of his bid for shin'uchi master rank, Akane takes up rakugo herself, determined to climb to the same top rank that was denied to him. Now a high schooler, she studies under his old master and steps onto the stage to make her name in a tradition that rewards only a precious few.
