When livestock keep turning up dead in a remote mountain village, Tokyo detective Kohachi Inugami arrives to investigate the supernatural cases he specializes in. There he meets Kabane, an ostracized boy forced to labor in the fields, and realizes the child is a half-ghoul. Inugami brings Kabane to his Tokyo agency, where he works alongside other inhuman youths like the spider-powered Shiki, while searching for clues about the parents who abandoned him.
